Updated Stage 1A Detour Map

Road construction starts April 15 in Pelican Rapids

Thank you for signing up to receive project email updates for the two-year reconstruction project on Highway 59/Highway 108 in Pelican Rapids! These emails will help to keep you informed during construction and will include progress updates, traffic changes, public meeting dates and more.

You can view these updates any time on the project website

Work starts on April 15

Taking advantage of the mild winter, crews will begin installing detour signs and other traffic control devices and start work on Stage 1A of the project on Monday, April 15. Weather permitting, Highway 59 will close between the Pelican River bridge and 4th Avenue SE next week.

The project will be completed in stages over the next two years. Year one in 2024 will focus on Highway 59, and in year two in 2025, the focus will be on Highway 108.

Do you live, work or plan to visit Pelican Rapids? Pelican Rapids businesses will be open during construction. There will be signed detours using city streets for navigation in-town.

Thru-traffic and trucks: Thru-traffic on Highway 59 and Highway 108 west (motorists who do not have a destination in Pelican Rapids) will be detoured to other county/township roads, with designated routes for 7-ton and 10-ton truck traffic.

We’re working on final maps of the staging and detours, and will share them soon! Check the project website or plan to stop into our in-person open house on April 16 to learn more.
